To be able to design a home for a family in Boston and then another when they expand and relocate is a particularly creative and unique experience. Already having a great understanding of how they like to live, as well as their preferences on color and overall style and tone, we were able to hit the ground running on concepts, vision and sourcing. Our firm took on the project when the house was just framed out, and were able to create bespoke details with the client that were put into action by the builder. One notable detail is the custom stair balustrade design, which is a reference from an image that Natalie had saved from a hotel in London years prior.

Our team believes in the thought of “buying well once” and this is evident as many pieces from their previous brownstone were able to effortlessly translate into their new home, though the architectural style is more contemporary here than the first. An example of this are the De Gournay panels which previously were in their living room, and now are the focal point of their dining room. To keep familiar pieces that come to represent memories and interpret them into a new setting creates such a great feel of heritage for the family.

A favorite room in this house is the office, which is enveloped in wallpaper - on the walls and ceiling. The room has a great feeling, which reads more like an inspiring den rather than a traditional home office. Also, the tea room at the entrance, which is a place to host guests in this conversational seating layout. The rich coral on the walls gives a warm glow in the evening, making a great backdrop for conversations or lounging with a good book.
